SCRIPTUM is located
near the University of California in Berkeley, across the Bay from San
Francisco. Margrit Schurman CEO and Founder of SCRIPTUM, is an Alumni
of the University, with a higher degree in History of Art, a subject she
then taught for years.
Subsequently she became
the Founder of the nationwide chain of PAPYRUS fine greeting card and
paper stores.
SCRIPTUM was established
in 1999 and deals in JAPANESE PRINTS, particularly Prints of the late
19th and 20th century - Shin Hanga and Sosaku Hanga - and in Contemporary
Japanese Print Artist.
As dealers in Japanese
Prints, SCRIPTUM collects and sells fine, limited edition Prints by many
of the well known Artists, many of which are listed on the SCRIPTUM website.

lists only a sampling of the hundreds of Prints we have available. Please,

In addition, we promote
contemporary Japanese Artists of special promise and endeavour to arrange
exhibits for them in the USA.
Collecting Japanese

they are the result of a tradition of a history of fine workmanship, using
quality papers that date back to the 16th century.

over time . Once a numbered edition has been completed, the original block
