SCRIPTUM was founded in 1999 in San Francisco, California by Owner, Margrit Schurman, Art Historian, Professor and Founder of PAPYRUS Fine Paper Stores.

The combination of interests in Art History and Business resulted in the creation of SCRIPTUM which today represents Fine Japanese Print Artists in the United States and is offering Japanese Prints by modern and contemporary Artists.

It is a privilege and great pleasure to introduce IWAO AKIYAMA in One-Man Shows in the USA. In 2002 two Shows were mounted at the Ren Brown Collection Gallery in California, and the Azuma Gallery in Washington, both with great success. AKIYAMA -san visited the USA for the first time and a wonderful time was had by all - by the Artist, by his accompanying sons and by the American public flocking to see him.
